India bloc MPs Skip Oath Taking Ceremony of Newly Elected Lok Sabha Members

New Delhi: An alliance of the quintessential Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc, crucial for a panel to aid pro-tem speaker Bhartruhari Mahtab in administering oath to newly elected Lok Sabha members, will not discharge their duties, a senior Opposition leader said on Sunday.

There could be escalating tensions between the Government and the INDIAN alliance. According to sources, Congress member Kodikunnil Suresh and T.R. Trinamool Congress (TMC)'s Baalu and Sudip Bandopadhyay were part of the panel, but they will abstain from their responsibilities to protest against the Centre's disregard for Mr Suresh, who is a senior MP.

Please take note of the following text:

Two other senior MPs, BJP leaders Radha Mohan Singh and Faggan Singh Kulaste, are also on the panel to assist the pro-tem Speaker. While Mr Mahtab has won for the last seven terms, the Congress MP from Kerala is an eight-term member.

In any event, Mr Suresh was not a Lok Sabha member in 1998 and 2004 and consequently did not have continuous residency in the Lok Sabha.

"Today, the Parliament's processes resumed with a new group of MPs for the first time. Even before the first session of Parliament could start, Congress was accused by MoS Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju of resorting to fake tweets on Netflix and Amazon.

However, Congress claims that the Center's decision was a part of the "bulldozer tactics" used by the Narendra Modi government to run the Parliament. Mr. Ramesh stated, "The Opposition is not going to sit back and watch. It cannot be the standard Modi-Shah approach to managing Parliament and tractor strategies."
