The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has entrusted GIZ with implementing the German contribution to the Indo-German Energy Programme – Promotion of Solar Water Pumps (IGEN-PSWP). This project aims to accelerate the deployment of solar water pumps for productive use in rural India, specifically in Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Assam.


Key Objectives

IGEN-PSWP aims to:

  • Facilitate the deployment of solar water pumps in a sustainable manner.
  • Create an enabling market environment for Decentralized Renewable Energy (DRE) technologies.
  • Integrate DRE technologies into the agriculture, dairy, and fisheries value chains.


Internship Opportunity

GIZ India is offering an internship to support the financial aspects of the IGEN-PSWP project. This role involves assisting with financial product design, pilot implementation, capacity building, and stakeholder coordination.


Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Financial Product Design and Implementation: Conduct background research, provide inputs for financial product rollout, source customers, consult stakeholders, and engage with financial institutions.
  • Capacity Building and Sensitization: Coordinate training schedules, monitor training methods and content, and maximize training impact for financial institutions.
  • Operational Support: Organize workshops, develop communication materials, and manage other project-related tasks.


Candidate Profile

  • Education: Final year Master's student or recent graduate (within six months) in development finance, international development, public policy, development economics, rural development, rural or agricultural banking, agricultural economics, or related areas.
  • Skills and Experience: Strong analytical skills, experience with credit appraisal systems and financial products, readiness to travel to rural areas, keen interest in renewable energy and finance in agriculture, good understanding of qualitative and quantitative methods, fluency in English and Hindi, proficiency in MS-Office, and strong communication and writing skills.
  • Personal Attributes: Proactive, agile, able to work under strict deadlines, and comfortable working with limited guidance and in a multicultural team.


Internship Details

  • Duration: 6 months
  • Location: GIZ Delhi office
  • Stipend: INR 23,000/- per month (subject to taxes)
  • Travel: Work-related travel costs covered by GIZ as per guidelines
  • Accommodation: Self-arranged
  • Requirements: Current student or recent graduate (within six months), willingness to sign data protection and code of ethics declarations
