What happened with Sunita Williams in space?

The eight-day is turned prolonged stay, Sunita Williams and butch Wilmore are stuck in the international space station. The astronauts arrived at the International Space Station on June 6 They originally planned to spend 8 days there. Officials of NASA and Boeing still after 20 days are not able to make adjustments to the Starliner crew flight test spacecraft return to Earth.  


 Introduction:  

Sunita Lyn Williams born on September 19, 1965, nicknamed Suni. She is an Indian-origin American astronaut.  

• She is an American astronaut, US Navy officer & former record holder for the most spacewalk time for a woman (50 hrs, 40 min)  

• She was assigned to the International Space Station as a Member of Expedition 14 & expedition 15.  

• In 2012, she served as a flight engineer on Expedition 32 &the commander of Expedition 33.  

• In 2024 she returns international space station on the Boeing Creed flight test, the 1st creed mission of the Boeing Star line.  


Starliner Mission:  

The Starliner mission is seen as the door for the entry of another private player in the American space sector apart from Elon Musk's Space X. Starliner crew flight test spacecraft Starliner’s spacecraft was developed in collaboration with NASA’s commercial crew program. It can accommodate up to 7 passengers or a mix of crew and cargo for LEO missions. It is also reusable up to 10 times with a 6-month turnaround time. 

 

What happened:  

According to a report from Reuters, NASA has rescheduled the planned return 3 times & now there has no date is set for it. Since, now it’s June the capsule has had five helium leaks, 5 man covering thrusters go dead & a propellant value fail to close completely.  


How long did Starliner stop working?  

According to NASA commercial crew manager ‘Steve Stitch said to reporters “Starliner can stop at international space station for up to 45 days. But if more problems arise in the mission and officials can’t fix it on time then it can stay stopped for up to 72 days; relying on various systems.
