Historic Dolphin Stranding at Cape Cod: Rescue Efforts and Survival


Introduction
Cape Cod has experienced the largest dolphin stranding in US history, with 146 dolphins stranded. Remarkably, 102 dolphins were saved thanks to dedicated rescue efforts.

The Incident
The stranding began on June 28, 2024. 70% of the dolphins survived due to the rescue operations.

Rescue Efforts
Over 25 staff members from the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) and 100 volunteers. The custom-built mobile clinics and satellite tagging helped in the rescue.
