IAS Officer's Estranged Wife Dies by Suicide After Return Home Amid Criminal Charges

In a tragic turn of events, the wife of an IAS officer, who had previously eloped with a notorious gangster from Tamil Nadu, died by suicide after returning to her husband's residence in Gandhinagar. The woman, embroiled in a child abduction case, had recently resurfaced in Gujarat, seeking refuge from the Tamil Nadu police.

The woman, originally from Tamil Nadu, returned to her husband's house on Saturday. However, her husband had instructed his domestic staff not to allow her entry, due to her involvement in the child abduction case. Denied access, she attempted suicide in a nearby garden. Despite being rushed to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital, she succumbed to her injuries the next day.

According to police reports and various media sources, the couple had separated in 2023 and were in the process of getting a divorce. The woman had previously eloped with a gangster known as 'Maharaja High Court' nine months ago. During this period, her name surfaced in a kidnapping case involving a minor, along with other criminal charges tied to the gangster.

Before her death, the woman left a letter addressed to Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister, MK Stalin, describing her plight and alleging that she was ensnared by the gangster into criminal activities. She professed that her husband was a noble man who had cared for their children during her absence.

An unidentified police officer shared that while the case is currently being treated as a suicide, an accidental death report has been filed at the Gandhinagar Sector-21 police station. The officer noted the complexities of the case, including whether she had the poison with her or if she had managed to meet her husband before her tragic decision.

Her body is currently being held in a cold room at Gandhinagar, awaiting the arrival of her family from Tamil Nadu to complete formalities. The police have yet to communicate with the Madurai police, as they have not received any official communication regarding her status as a wanted individual.

This heartbreaking incident underscores the severe personal and legal turmoil faced by the woman. As investigations continue, it highlights the intricate and often tragic intersections of personal relationships, legal battles, and the quest for justice. The case remains under scrutiny, and further details are awaited as authorities delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding her death.
