Social Policy Research Foundation (SPRF India) is a non-partisan public policy think tank based in New Delhi. Established as a public charitable trust, our mission is to democratize public policy through rigorous, data-driven, and non-partisan research. We aim to foster critical dialogues among engaged youth by making public policy accessible and grounded in empirical evidence.

Job Opportunity: Research Associate

SPRF is seeking to hire a Research Associate focusing on either of the following themes:

  1. Poverty, Livelihoods, and Employment
  2. Society, Gender, and Social Justice

This is a full-time position with a remote working arrangement, suitable for experienced candidates with backgrounds in project management or journalism. The ideal candidates should be adept at conducting both qualitative and quantitative research, generating original research ideas, and analyzing data for various research projects. Familiarity with Indian public policy issues concerning human rights, marginalized communities, and welfare schemes is essential.

Responsibilities

Research Outputs Development

  • Develop and write various types of research outputs including commentaries, issue briefs, discussion papers, and other forms for external publishing, aligned with the chosen thematic vertical.

Research Execution

  • Conduct primary and secondary research, assist in developing questionnaires, scripts, and surveys as needed for individual and collaborative research projects.

Audio-Visual Content Development

  • Ideate and develop concepts for audio-visual outputs such as podcasts, photo essays, and photo stories related to the selected thematic area.

Review and Collaboration

  • Review research papers and articles from both external sources and within the team, contributing to internal and external research projects, proposals, conferences, and presentations.

Necessary Requirements

  • Recent postgraduate degree holders in social sciences with 1-2 years of relevant work experience, including internships.
  • Strong background and interest in public policy, particularly in the domains of economy, human rights, social justice, and welfare schemes for disenfranchised communities.

  • Candidates should be committed to the role for at least one year. Part-time applicants or those pursuing PhDs are not eligible.
