Why Law Professor Has Killed His Own Father? A Closer Look

Anirudha Choudhury, a law professor at a private university in Bhubaneswar, stands accused of fatally stabbing his father, Sunil Choudhury, a retired NALCO official, in their residence at Rangamatia apartment on Wednesday. The motive behind this tragic incident remains unclear as police continue their investigation.

 Incident Details

According to reports, Anirudha allegedly attacked his father following a heated argument at their home under Mancheswar police station jurisdiction. Sunil's body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and local residents are reeling from shock, expressing disbelief over the incident. Bhubaneswar ACP Goutam Kisan assured that more details would emerge as the investigation progresses.

Background and Allegations

Anirudha, known as Aman in some circles, had been residing with his father, while his wife had temporarily moved to her parents' home following a recent dispute. The tragic altercation occurred during Anirudha's visit to his father's apartment on Tuesday evening. Allegedly, he had requested financial assistance from Sunil to address his personal debts, leading to a violent confrontation.

 Response and Investigation

Sunil's wife, who witnessed the horrifying event, immediately sought help from neighbours around 4 am upon discovering the grievous injury. Despite efforts to save him, Sunil succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at a nearby hospital.

Initial inquiries revealed no prior indications of discord between father and son regarding property matters or otherwise, as attested by friends of the deceased. Anirudha did not attempt to flee the scene and was apprehended by neighbours before being handed over to the police, who secured the weapon used in the crime.

Mancheswar police, along with forensic experts, have launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic event. DCP Prateek Singh personally visited the scene to oversee proceedings, emphasizing the seriousness with which authorities are approaching the case.
