Congress to Hold Nationwide Protests on August 22 Demanding SEBI Chief’s Resignation

The Congress party has announced plans for a nationwide protest on August 22, 2024, calling for the resignation of SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch and demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) investigation into the Adani issue.

Rahul Gandhi emphasized the need to focus on exposing corruption in the Narendra Modi government and urged colleagues to push for a nationwide caste census.

The Congress party passed a resolution alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is deeply involved in the "Adani megascam" and accused SEBI of being compromised.

The party plans to stage demonstrations outside Enforcement Directorate (ED) offices in every State capital on August 22 to demand the SEBI chief's resignation and the formation of a JPC.

The meeting also discussed turmoil in Bangladesh, urging the Indian government to ensure the safety of religious minorities in Bangladesh.

Rahul Gandhi set the tone for the upcoming elections by focusing on three key issues: corruption, the Constitution, and the caste census.

The Congress party plans to highlight unemployment, inflation, train accidents, the Agnipath scheme, and the demand to make Minimum Support Price (MSP) a legal guarantee for farmers as central themes in their election campaign.
