It is very common for us to use social media platforms these days , hardly any social person can imagine a day without it.

But ,using social media is completely safe? 

From the point of view ,that our data's are collected and transferred to third party without our knowledge, and sometimes not even with our consent.

AI offers a significant range of benefits, but the concern about data protection requires consumer awareness and stringent measures to keep any violations in check.

These are the following ways by which our privacy is hindered :-

1) Collection of Data

AI requires a large amount of consumer's data to function properly and effectively . Data includeds personal information about the consumer, sometimes without their consent, and sometimes in a manner which a consumer does not understand. 

2) Surveillance potential 

AI driven technologies such as facial recognition while unlocking the phone and tracking system such as Google Maps  can lead to the monitoring of the individuals 

3) Data breaches

Data collected by the AI is stored in the centralized storage system which can be the target for the cyberattacks which can risk the exposure of personal information, and as a consequence no company would be there to claim the responsibility. 

4) Serve Advertisements 

AI can derive information regarding the interest of the individual and can be used to show personalized advertisements. 

5) Profiling

AI derives data of the individuals which then gets processed to build detailed profiles of the individuals which are then sold to third parties ,also they are used for advertisements and decision making, without the information of the individuals.

6) No transparency 

They make it hard for the individuals to know how their data is collected and used ,lacking in transparency. 

There is a requirement of stringent laws which creates the framework that compels the organisation to handle the data collected by the consumers responsibily and if it leads to any data breach they will have to face the consequences .This is how we can saveguard ourselves from getting our privacy hampered.
